Kaua’i: The Garden Isle of Hawai’i

 

Wednesday – 21st

We Found our Selves at the airport. And at the hotel with a Gordian Knot

 

Pool came in handy a few times.  Cruise ships come and go everyday.

 

Thursday – 22nd

Search for Wailua Falls

Found a coconut & a wood rose

Papaya is found everywhere

Small beach with a crowd and big wave.

 

Friday – 24th

Only one sighting of Nene; Hawai’i State bird

 

Taro farm makes a good background

 

Small cave: needs a canoe to explore

 

Coral reef was beyond lava slabs. Not to many people here today.

Overwhelms the size of our car/van

 

Dry cave looks like a bat cave. Can’t see very far without flashlight.

 

Water seeps through rock and drips into sand – try to magnify.

Saturday – 24th

Lower end of Great Canyon (Waimea)

 

North end up at 4000 feet: View of mountains and ocean with red dirt.

Too close to the edge – I slipped and fell

South of us is the head of Waimea Canyon

 

Back down to Earth so to speak, sea level

 

Sunday – 25th

Kaua’i Coffee Plantation

 

First it was sugar cane then coffee

Tuesday - 27th

Trip up the Na Pali coast: Tail of a Rainbow is being Framed.

Many dolphins were seen, with calves.

The North coast is our last venture into the wild side of Kawai’i

Kalalau Beach. End of 12 mi. trail.

 

 

Quick drive on the way back Home.
