Farewell St. Petersburg

The following 175 photos (approx.) were from the Weaver's Trip to St. Petersburg, Russia. They are posted in reverse order. Weavers are: myself, Elizabeth Peterson, June Pardue, Melissa Berns, Coral Chernoff and Teri Rofkar.

Typical Russian housing. They usually buy their flats.

Back to eat again at the Amsterdam airport just before heading home.

Leaving St. Petersburg

Saw quite a few cross country skiers on the way to the airport. Also this hill where people were sledding.

Only place I saw people with little ones out in the elements

Another frozen canal.

Ballet and food before

Will at the ballet.

Lots of julienned veggies; lots of tomatoes, cucumbers and olives. Dill is most often used garnish. That horrible green leaf stuff too (cilantro)

Merinsky Ballet

Will took us to the ballet at the Merinsky. There were 3 ballets totalling 3 hours. This was the ovation at the end. Will took some pictures there with his "super" camera and I'll be getting copies of those.
The ceiling of the Merinsky. See the people in the top tier.

This building was near our hotel and was undergoing renovation. This is a cloth facade on it during the renovation. Ha.

How much is it???

And we're walking

Now I wish I would have taken more pictures of all the beautiful fur coats we saw.

The General Staff Building. During tsarist rule this was the site of the army headquarters and the ministries of foreign affairs and finance.

REM 1/28

On display at the REM. Our basketry and artifacts were in storage. We went into the archives to see them all.

This is an Alutiiq jacket out of seal gut and embroidery. It had a matching skirt. Coral is modeling it.

Teri with her goat wool weaving topped with beaver fur. She presented this to the Kunstkamera museum for display at the American Consulate reception for us.

Upstairs in the archives.
