REM Russian Ethnological Museum 1/27

Beach rye grass baskets
June looking at possibly a doorway cover. It had grass rope attached to it (the whole thing is grass) and looked like it had routinely been rolled up and tied. June had a mask on because the first day at these archives at the REM the smell of moth balls and insect spray was very strong.

This is a picture of the front of the REM. It's really quite large and goes back a ways and there are several other buildings that are a part of it. We spent two days here.


Ice sculptures on the street on our walk to the REM. It was below zero the whole week we were there, so these ice sculptures didn't do any melting. There were 8 or 9 full sculptures and a small replica of a fort.
